Overall Objectives:

At the end of the course, the students would have gained the following:

1. Clear understanding of cross-cultural dimensions and how to effectively communicate across cultures within a management context.

2. Practice in analyzing cross-cultural interactions through role plays and concrete business case studies.

3. Opportunity to start critically analysing their individual cultural profiles for practical use in a “real” multicultural environment.

The Geert Hofstede Cultural Dimensions Model will form the basic framework.

Teaching Methodology & Evaluation:

The course will be a good blend between theory and practice – Four 1-day sessions (including small group work and interactions) & small group work outside class.

The cross-cultural background of the students will be the basis for enhanced personal awareness and bridging the cultural gap.  The course will provide for the following teaching methods:

1.Individual preparation and reading by students

2.Theory and concepts presented by Professor

3.Case studies & Role plays

4.Small group work and presentation by small groups

Evaluation is based on class participation (50%) and small group work (50%).
